Heat race went well, was able to hold off Matt Jenner and Craig Cassell for the win.
Had a blast on the front stretch meeting a bunch of awesome fans that are rooting for us every week. Fan appreciation night is definitely one of the best nights of the year, hands down. I sure enjoyed them as a kid, so giving back where we are now feels pretty good.
The main event went well but broke our RR chain off midway through which explains why the handle was so far off towards the end. Ended up finishing 4th which is our best for the year so far. Hell yea brother!
We will be back this Saturday before finally getting a week off to regroup before some big races to finish off the year.
Yuge thanks to everyone the supports us and helps out week in and week out. It does not go unnoticed. See you all this weekend!
Battery came loose around lap 3 and started rolling all over the passenger floorboard, pulling wires and terminals the whole time. Eventually without a fan the radiator gave up and let out every bit of water the car had.
Had a pretty good view of the 97 flip in the infield! Wild to come around the corner and only see the bottom of a car. That’s at 5:50 in the video.
Thanks Andrew for the help between hot laps and heats, Dave for savin us a party spot, and everyone else that came by after the main. Always cool to see everybody.
Think we just need a radiator and back again in 2 weeks
Race Recap! (And a pretty big thank you post to start off the season.)
We unloaded with the same setup we ran a couple years ago, and boy was that a mistake.
Started 4th in the heat and finished last after not being able to get the car to turn at all. This put us last to start the A-main.
Went out starting 17th with some changes and gained 10 spots to finish 7th after an absolute glorious race after halfway with Matt Jenner. I felt like I could run top 5 easily but couldn’t figure it out between cautions and the end. The speed is there, driver just has to figure some things out.
We unloaded everything this morning and got the car cleaned up and fixed our issues (hopefully) for this next weekend.
Yuge thanks to everyone that gets this car to the track. It sucks to have missed so much time over the years racing, but catching up in life is starting to pay off. Thanks to Jeremy Means and the Sunset Speedway staff for adding us to this weekend, it was a blast. Not sure how I feel about other added days, but we’ll figure out a way to make it.
Shoutout to my brother Bryan Day and Amanda McCullough for deciding to come out last minute to support us. Without him there, I would have sucked in the main as his changes we brainstormed ultimately helped most. Thank you!!!
Of course, thank you to my wife for everything as she drops what we normally do for fun for race season, and it looks like we’ll finally get a full one in as long as nothing major happens. Also, thank you mom Winn Day for always supporting us and making sure we are good to go when we need it.
Glad to have a new buddy out to help as well for the first time and figure things out. Seems like the family enjoyed it, hopefully we all have new fans to join in on the racing fun.
We finally got the car back out to practice last Friday at Willamette Speedway after sitting another year which was frustrating. We didn’t change the gear as we were just making sure we had the overheating fixed up so had to take it a bit easy. Seems like we finally figured it out, but we will see at the first race we get in at Banks.
Yuge thanks to Chad Peterson for coming up and helping out. We were really hoping to get a race in and were ready to swap gears but didn’t realize they weren’t running A-Mods that weekend for whatever reason. Oh well, we’ll try again May 6th since this weekend looks like rain, rain, and more rain. Hope to bring Chad back up later in the year .
Also, thanks to Jerry Buesig for taking time to help us set up the new carburetor over the phone.
We didn’t get the GoPro in but got some outside shots thanks to Alanna. We’ll hopefully have all the video shit ready for the first race as well .
After 4 years of building the new car, we finally got out to our first race weekend which happened to be the double header 4th of July weekend at Sunset Speedway in Banks, OR.
Things went well and the car was fast, but we developed an overheating issue both nights which seen the engine get to 260° and 280° by the end of the A-mains.
